Based out of Manchester, Connecticut, and no stranger to the road, Michael James Anderson struck out on his own after playing in the metal/punk trio Flu, releasing his first solo record Wake Up For The Shakedown in 2008, followed by Restless Sea (2010), Left Of The Dial (2012), Amend (2013 EP), Some Say Minnesota (2017 EP), and various 7 inch splits.
Having been compared to the likes of Elliot Smith, Iron and Wine, and Luka Bloom, all of which Anderson admits he is a fan of, many of Michael’s recordings to give the listener the feeling that he is simply playing a song to just them in their living room. Though the motto “once a band guy, always a band guy” proves true in some of his later recordings, releasing music with a whole slew of backing band and session players. His upcoming release (and first for the label), “Scarecrow, i Think i’ll Miss you Most of All” is scheduled for a spring 2021 release.
“Anderson never veers into the saccharine-infused; this is solo acoustic at its best, sensitive without being cloying. Proof that rockers don’t have to rock out to be effective.” – Alexis Fitts, New Haven Advocate
“The soft side of the Flu frontman has been shown. Take that Bret Michaels!” – Nick Stefanovich, Northeast Performer
